  1. Define LARC drawing: a manufacturer-produced technical document showing the exact layout, beam elevations, and load capacities for a specific rack installation
  2. Define the load capacity plaque: a physical placard posted on the rack, per ANSI MH16.1, stating maximum permissible unit load and/or maximum uniformly distributed load per level (ANSI MH16.1 sets a minimum plaque size and required content)
  3. Explain the relationship: the plaque is the at-a-glance field reference; the LARC drawing is the underlying engineering record that should be consulted before any reconfiguration
  4. Confirm ANSI MH16.1 places responsibility on the rack owner to post and maintain load plaques in conspicuous locations for each distinct rack configuration
  5. Note that when beam levels are added, removed, or relocated, both the LARC drawing and the load plaque must be updated by a qualified rack engineer — the old plaque number no longer applies
