Steps
Enable local API access on the ismartgate/Gogogate2 unit and note its LAN IP plus the admin username/password from the device's web UI.
Install a maintained wrapper such as the bdraco/ismartgate Python package (a fork of vangorra/python_gogogate2_api).
Instantiate GogoGate2Api(host, username, password) for Gogogate2 units, or ISmartGateApi for ismartgate units — the two product lines use different undocumented wire protocols.
Call async_info() to enumerate doors and read current status (open/closed).
Call async_open_door(door_id) / async_close_door(door_id) to actuate a specific door.
Known gotchas
There is no official published API spec; the library was built by reverse-engineering the device's local endpoint, so behavior can change with firmware updates.
Gogogate2 and ismartgate are different underlying protocols despite common branding — using the wrong client class against a device fails even though both are made by the same company.
