Open server.properties in your Minecraft server directory.
Set enable-rcon to true.
Set rcon.port to your desired port number (default is 25575).
Set the rcon password property to a value of your choice — choose a strong, unique value and store it securely outside the repository.
Save server.properties and restart the server for the changes to take effect.
Connect using an RCON client by providing the server address, port, and the password value you configured.
Known gotchas
RCON traffic is not encrypted by default — avoid exposing the RCON port to the public internet; use a firewall to restrict access to trusted IPs only.
If the server is running, changes to server.properties require a full restart to take effect; a reload alone will not apply RCON configuration changes.
Some hosting control panels override server.properties values on startup — verify that your host allows persistent RCON configuration changes.
